A collection of five unique portraits featuring main character Merry Boo created by artist Arielle Wilkins. As the book has roots in New York City, each work represents one of the five boroughs — THE Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island — differentiated by the backgrounds which each show repeating binary code for that location.
The Artist
Arielle Wilkins is a New York-based artist who was raised in the heart of Texas. Inspired by her father’s performing arts background, and with strong awareness of black culture, she quickly immersed herself in music and visual arts. Her portraits are bold and colorful, confident and celebratory.

In association with The Boos Nightmerry, a rhythmic and picture book about robots called Boos living on the backstreets of the big city. With the written format drawing inspiration from hip hop beats and illustration referencing graffiti artists, the story acts as an introduction to technology concepts like connectivity in a modern and playful way.
